What is OFMD Collabs?OFMD Collabs provides a form for OFMD fandom members to put in submissions for collaboration requests whether art, co-writing, podficcing, etc. We will post requests so anyone in the fandom who wishes to collaborate with you can get in contact.The goal is to make it easier to seek a collaboration for those of us who struggle to reach out to specific folks, or have no preference as to who they work with.What do you do exactly?OFMD Collabs provide a form for you to fill out describing—in as much or little detail as you like—what kind of collab you want, plus a preferred method of contact. Then we post and promote it on social media.It is up to anyone who wants to respond to the request to reach out to the requester via their preferred method of contact.What don’t you do?Once prospective collaborators are in touch, it’s up to them from there on out how and whether to collaborate. We only facilitate matching people up with potential partners, sort of like a dating service for collabs.We are unable to post any collaboration requests relating to underage sexual content. We also reserve the right to refuse to post any specific collab request based on its content.We do not facilitate requests from people looking to commission works, or from those looking to be paid for their work. (Commissions are great, but they’re not the purpose of this initiative.)What if I get an inquiry from someone I don’t want to work with?It’s up to you whether to ignore or decline any requests for collaboration. Putting out a request is not a commitment—it does not guarantee that you will agree to work with anyone who responds to it.What if I don’t want to let OFMD Collabs post my contact info?You should only give us contact information you’re comfortable sharing with a fandom-wide audience (such as a Bluesky handle or fandom-specific email account). We recommend that it not have your full legal name attached to it.If you have concerns about sharing any contact information, let us know, and we can work out initial contact from responders via OFMD Collabs.What if I’ve reached out in response to someone’s request for a collab and don’t hear back?The person is either busy and will get back to you when they can, or it’s just not meant to be. OFMD Collabs will not facilitate anything beyond the initial outreach—the rest is up to the requester and the responder.We recommend that you don’t continue to ping the requester after your initial response.Is this open to requests for any ship, characters, type of story/art, or rating?Yes, with the exception of underage sexual content as mentioned above, so long as it relates to OFMD, though we do reserve the right to refuse to post any specific request.Once you’re matched with a potential collaborator, you can hash out specific wants/do not wants, but it’s fine to state those things up front as well in a request if you know them.It’s also okay to post a very open request that hasn’t outlined all that stuff yet, or even chosen a topic, (such as “looking to work on Garlic Soup fluff”) and to decide once you have a collaborator.Does OFMD Collabs participate in fandom-wide events?Not officially, but you’re welcome to submit a collab request for upcoming prompt events. Of course, the OFMD Big Bang and Reverse Bang both have their own ways of matching people, so those events are exceptions. OFMD Collabs is not intended to replace the BB or RBB, but to add an option for those who wish to find collaborators at other times of the year or without time pressure.What if I know who I want to collaborate with?
You can check if they are on this spreadsheet, hosted by Temporal-Discounting, and reach out directly if they’ve listed themselves on there as open to collaboration inquiries.Will OFMD Collabs help promote the eventual results of these collabs?Sure! Just tag us at #OFMDCollabs on Bluesky and we’ll repost your work.Will OFMD Collabs be on Tumblr as well as Bluesky?We plan to be on Tumblr and are working on it. For now, this carrd site can be shared with anyone who doesn’t have a Bluesky account, and we are happy to post on behalf of requesters even if they are not on Bluesky.Will you set up an OFMD Collabs Discord server?We have no plans to do that at present.
